Data Center Technician
This is a hands-on learning role ideal for recent college graduates with a foundational understanding of networking, telecommunications, or electrical systems. You'll receive on-the-job training and work alongside experienced engineers to grow into a full-cycle technician.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in troubleshooting optical systems using power meters and testers to identify and fix fiber optic problems
- Help manage patch panels and fiber routes, ensuring proper organization and good documentation
- Support the installation and maintenance of subsea cable systems and related architecture
- Aid in maintaining and troubleshooting AC and DC power systems to ensure the data center runs smoothly
- Use optical testers, power meters, and hand tools to assist with maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics
- Participate in a rotational on-call support schedule to help resolve urgent technical issues
- Contribute to project completion by assisting with technical tasks and providing updates on progress
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of data centers, including terrestrial and subsea cable systems
- Familiarity with AC/DC power systems and a willingness to learn how to maintain and troubleshoot them
- Hands-on experience or coursework in using optical power meters and diagnostic tools
- Ability to learn and work through technical issues independently with guidance
- Interest in supporting operations within a data center environment
- A strong desire to learn about subsea cables and data center design
- Good organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is a plus
No prior data center experience required — we'll train the right candidate.
