From the Ground Up: NJFX Completes Data Center Construction

New Jersey Fiber Exchange (NJFX) broke ground less than a year ago on its Tier 3, carrier-neutral data center and in just a week it will open its doors to over-the-top (OTT) content providers, multinational enterprises, ISPs, carriers and dark fiber network providers. The official launch of the new facility, taking place on September 21, marks the completion of the second phase of the NJFX campus build out.

NJFX is currently in discussions with strategic customers with larger footprint requirements of over 150 high density cabinets. It will focus its efforts on retail cabinets for carriers, OTT’s and Enterprise cages for up to 50% of its primary business, ensuring direct access to the world’s only Tier 3 Transatlantic Cable Landing Station Campus. The campus directly interconnects Europe, South America and North America with 8 unique fiber base US carriers in the North East to provide unprecedented route diversity end-to-end.

Completing the build of the new Tier 3 compliant data center in just one year was an incredible feat made possible by Frank Farrugia, Senior Manager of Facilities Operations at Equinix, who brought over 40 years of experience as the designer of the site and the dedicated crews that worked tirelessly to bring this industry-changing idea to life. The build is all the more impressive when you look at the stats.

Facility Details:

  • Two story, 64,800 sq. ft. facility
  • Over 1,100 cabinet capacity
  • Independent Tier 3 and MEF/FP-designed neutral network hub
  • Located on Tata Communications’ international CLS
  • Carrier-neutral MMR
  • 24/7 on-site security
  • Secure loading dock access
  • Sub-dividable first and second floor
  • Hurricane 5-resistant infrastructure

Power:

  • 10MW design adjacent to Utility Substation
  • Additional 9MW reserved capacity through on-site Jersey Central Power & Light substation
  • High- and low-density solutions for flexible colocation
  • N+1 UPS with configurable distribution for up to 20kW/cabinet loads
  • N+1 indoor generators with on-site stand-by diesel fuel for five days of uninterrupted power
  • Designated as a NJ Critical infrastructure priority site for fuel replenishment program
  • Annual PUE of 1.35 with Evaporative rooftop cooling solution and backup water tanks

NJFX Founder and Managing Member Gil Santaliz to Discuss Redefining Proximity with Direct Interconnection to International Submarine Cable Systems

WALL, NJ  – New Jersey Fiber Exchange (NJFX), a leader in data center consulting and colocation, announces that its Founder and Managing Member, Gil Santaliz, will sponsor Capacity Latam 2015, taking place March 17–18, 2015 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  Now in its 12th year, Capacity Latam is set to become the largest meeting place for the entire Latin American wholesale telecommunications market.  The conference will converge carriers, vendors, subsea cable companies, satellite companies and more for two days of discussions on the biggest themes in the Latin American market.

Mr. Santaliz will speak during the 11:00 AM coffee break on the morning of Wednesday, March 18.  He will introduce the concept of interconnecting at the intersection of subsea cables connecting the US, South America, Europe and the Caribbean.  This new interconnection point, to be made available by NJFX, allows telecom carriers, enterprises and content providers in Latin America as well as the rest of the world to design and construct more efficient networks, thus enabling faster, reliable and more cost-efficient delivery of content as well as high-bandwidth applications.

NJFX is building the first Tier III carrier-neutral colocation facility that intersects where subsea cables from the US, South America, Europe and the Caribbean meet at the easternmost edge of the United States.  Anticipated to go live in 2016, the network interconnection point provides carriers, enterprises, carrier-neutral operators and cable companies with direct interconnection options at the cable-head without recurring costs on cross-connects.  The new edge allows carriers and enterprise companies to have more control of their networks rather than rely on traditional backhaul solutions.  Carriers and enterprises using the NJFX location will also have access to Tata Communications’ global connectivity, built on the world’s largest and most advanced global subsea cable network.

MONTVILLE, NJ  – New Jersey Fiber Exchange (NJFX), a leader in data center consulting and colocation, announced today a new U.S.-based data center facility focused on providing direct connectivity to international submarine cable systems. As part of the announcement, NJFX is partnering with Tata Communications, a leading provider of A New World of Communications™, to provide colocation and other data center services to global enterprises and carriers at the East Coast-based facility.

“We are building a data center that will serve as a network interconnection point at the eastern most edge of the United States to enable companies to design and construct the most efficient network for their business and ensure the delivery of high-bandwidth applications to serve end-customers,” says Gil Santaliz, Founder and Managing Member, NJFX.
